How to store caviar?

Proper storage of caviar is essential for maintaining its quality and flavor.

Ideal Storage Temperature:
Caviar is best stored at temperatures between 28°F and 38°F (-2°C to +2°C) at the coldest part of your refrigerator, typically at the back or on a dedicated shelf for delicate products. Keep the caviar tin on ice within the refrigerator for optimal storage.

Shelf Life:
Unopened. Fresh caviar can be stored unopened in the refrigerator for 2-4 weeks. It should be consumed within this time frame for the best flavor and texture.

Opened. Once opened, caviar should be eaten within 2-3 days. After that period, the quality of the caviar will begin to deteriorate quickly.

Freezing. Although caviar can be frozen, this is not recommended. Freezing can toughen the delicate membrane of the roe and alter its flavor. If you are unable to consume your caviar within the recommended period or cannot refrigerate it properly, freezing may be considered as a last resort. If you do freeze your caviar, ensure that you begin the thawing process early on the day you plan to serve it, allowing the roe to regain its texture and taste.

Avoid Air Exposure. Caviar is sensitive to air, which can cause it to spoil more quickly. Always ensure that the tin or jar is tightly sealed when not in use.
